Mehraban carpets are knotted in the Mehraban region of northwestern Iran. The city is located in a historically important weaving area between Sarough and Hamadan, and the carpets tend to incorporate a lovely combination of weaving from both these areas. Hamadan has contributed the single weft weave and Sarough has predominantly inspired the motifs with traditional floral patterns.
The designs of Mehraban carpets often feature bold geometric and floral elements. They can be found both with and without medallions and come in bright colours, with reds, blues and greens being the most common.
The carpets are knotted using the Turkish symmetrical knot and are known for their durability and stunning craftsmanship.
Mehraban carpets are considered a true work of art and a valuable addition to any home and room in which it is placed.
