Description
Internationally recognized as the ”iron carpet of Persia”, Bidjar carpets are very dense and heavy with excellent wool quality. During production the weavers compress the pile so strongly that it almost stands vertically up. The weft and the knots are beaten with heavy wood or metal combs resulting in an extremely compact pile. This prevents gravel and other small particles from getting into the pile.
Bidjar carpets come in a variety of sizes and it is possible to find everything from Zaronim (150x100 cm) to larger sized carpets.
The carpets are made with double knots (Turkish knots), and can be found with many different patterns and designs. The most common being the Herati (flower like with four leaves) or Mahi (fish pattern) designs. Bidjar carpets are generally red and blue with beige elements adding a robust and elegant charm to any room in which they are placed.
