Handloom carpets are made by hand using a special loom and a modern weaving technique that allows the weaver to work methodically and efficiently. Since the production process is faster than in traditional carpet weaving, these carpets can be a price worthy alternative to their simpler, handknotted counterparts.
The modern production technique is suitable for making single coloured carpets, tone-in-tone carpets and carpets with simple geometrical patterns. The weavers do not let these restrictions limit their creativity, but rather they incorporate their artistic expression by using clever colour combinations and minimalistic design elements.
The carpets are made using good quality wool which makes them soft and comfortable to walk on. In some cases, bamboo silk or sari silk is incorporated into parts of the pile or the entire pile. This gives the carpets an incredible sheen and makes them even softer to the touch.
Handloom carpets have gained a great reputation for the “less is more” approach and are popular and fashionable interior decorating objects. The carpets fit perfectly in a modern living room, bedroom or kitchen environment, but are also ideal for open office spaces, meeting rooms and reception areas.
