Vintage (Fragment)

Vintage carpets are one-of-a-kind statement carpet made from older Turkish and Persian handknotted carpets of at least 20-50 years of age. The carpets have been carefully selected, often sourced from private homes, markets and bazaars for the specific purpose of being turned into Vintage carpets. Each carpet is washed and the pile trimmed down in a unique process of colour neutralisation that leaves the old pattern of the carpet still visible. The carpet is then transformed into a completely new carpet as it is re-coloured in a new exciting light, dark or vibrant colour. The result is an innovative fusion of traditional carpet design with a modern twist. It should be noted that Vintage carpets are very much still alive and may continue to lose some of their initial colour over time, a characteristic which adds to their uniqueness, charm and vintage style.

*It is not uncommon that a Colored Vintage/Patchwork carpet may gradually lose parts of the original characteristic color impression, which will further enhance the carpets unique vintage look. Exposure to direct sunlight may speed up the process, so we recommend turning the carpet from time to time to ensure an even and beautiful effect.

Fragment

A fragment carpet is a great way of salvaging and reviving the undamaged parts of older, handknotted carpets. Instead of simply discarding the whole carpet, these fragments are carefully selected and transformed into unique, fashionable pieces of art.

All our fragment carpets are carefully washed before being restored into new carpets. These revived carpets inherit all the qualities of an older handknotted carpet - ready to be appreciated in their new form.
