Description
Arak carpets are handknotted in the Arak region of northwestern Iran. The carpets are known for their floral patterns and soft, muted colors. They are durable, have a high knot density and are typically made of good quality wool and/or silk.
The designs of Arak carpets often feature intricate floral motifs and curving vines, with colours ranging from pale greens and blues to soft pinks and creams.
Arak carpets are highly prized for their craftsmanship and beauty, and are often used in formal settings such as dining rooms, reception areas, libraries and living rooms.
Patina
Our collection of Patina carpets is comprised of older Persian carpets that all show signs of natural wear and ageing. The carpets are carefully selected with the intention of preserving their cultural heritage and breathing new life into them. All our Patina carpets are washed before undergoing a thorough inspection. If any signs of damage are found these are attended to, and if the pile is unevenly trimmed it is gently polished down to achieve an even pile and add a natural sheen to the carpet.
The result is a one-of-a-kind carpet that still possesses all the qualities of an older hand-knotted carpet. A beautiful carpet with a genuine feel that has intentionally been allowed to retain a distinct patina appearance: to be discovered and admired by yet another generation to come.
