The city of Moud is situated in Northeastern Iran, south of Birdjan and Mashad. The carpets knotted here are generally of high quality, extremely durable and besides their aesthetic beauty, they make for a great quality/price investment. Some Moud carpets have incorporated elements of silk that accentuate the details, almost bringing the carpet to life. Moud carpets are woven with asymmetrical knots and often with good quality soft wool. They tend to feature all-over herati patterns sometimes, either with or without a classic medallion design (Moud Mahi).
Other times the carpets feature garden motifs (Moud Garden) in which the carpet is divided into smaller squares, each depicting their own story much like in Bakhtiari carpets. The bottom colour is usually a bluish or lighter ivory white colour tone that contrast beautifully with the more prominent red and blue tones featured in the motifs.
