The city of Yazd is located halfway between Isfahan and Kerman, in the centre of Iran. This historical city is famous for its beautiful architecture, quality carpets and delicious confectionaries. Madder is cultivated in the desert surrounding the city of Yazd and madder root is used as a natural dye for the different shades of red. The carpets have a cotton warp and a thick, slightly higher soft woolen pile.
