Mahal carpets are knotted by hand in the Mahal region, situated southwest of the capital Teheran. The carpets are known for their bold geometric designs and vibrant colors. The designs of Mahal carpets often feature repeating patterns of diamonds, hexagons, and other geometric shapes, with colours ranging from rich reds and blues to bright oranges and yellows.
Mahal carpets are knotted using the Senneh knot which makes them very durable and perfectly capable of withstanding regular daily use and traffic.
